The RCIY Project offers a series of workshops called, “Making Changes” to youth, adults, students and community members 12-29 years of age. Workshop cycles are conducted twice a week for six (6) weeks.
The on-site series is comprised of 12 different workshop topics that are relevant to the ongoing needs of the participants. These workshops aim to to develop and/or enhance the life skills of youth participants to better navigate through unique circumstances within their lives and within their community.
Workshop Topics include but are not limited to:
– Guns, Gangs & Retaliation
– Building healthy relationships with self, family and others
– Human trafficking and violence
– Substance Use & Addictions
– Financial Literacy
– Self-Concept & Esteem
– Employment preparation
There are additional workshops that are developed and arranged specific to youth and youth organization needs.

In collaboration with Black Creek Community Health Centre, community workshops are to address the needs of the participants, This is an integral aspect not only to build upon the knowledge and awareness of community trends and skills, but its fosters a greater sense of belonging, support and purpose to the participants as they get to connect with other youth, community leaders, agencies and supports that builds quality relationships.
To date, the following workshop have been implemented: Stop the Bleed: Wound Care Basics, as well as Food Handling Safety Training and Mental Health First Aid. We are in the process of coordinating workshops for the summer 2023. Please refer back to this page and the main page for updates.
